AFTERSCHOOL Studio Art Program (ASAP)

About the program:

Afterschool Studio Art Program (ASAP)  is a well-rounded art program focusing on a variety of drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media techniques presented in fun and engaging ways. There will also be bead and jewelry making, and possibly other crafty techniques since studio art can pull from any discipline. I will pay attention to young artists’ interests while stretching their capacity to try new techniques and modalities. I want the kids to have fun, be inspired and learn techniques that will hopefully inspire them to spend less time with screens and more time creating with their hands at home.

I treat participants with respect and as capable young artists.  *Limit of six participants per session to provide individualized attention. *Time for homework folded in if enough parents request it, so please let me know if this is something you are interested in. *I will serve a snack. (It's hard to create when you're hungry).

Wednesdays from 4-6pm for ages 10 to 15.

Three sessions: Fall 2019, Winter 2020 and Spring 2020

Limit of 6 young artists per session so I can provide individualized attention.

Location: I am a teaching artist and it will take place in my Kensington, Brooklyn studio on East 7th Street between Church and Beverly, close to the B103, F/G, Q/B.

Tuition and Dates: see below

I earned an MFA from Alfred University in Alfred, NY in 2004. I received a BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York, NY in 1992. You can see my playground art at J.J. Byrne Playground and Underhill Playground both in Brooklyn. I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
